FINAL

My project is a combination of pictures of me! Just kidding. Seriously though, it's a bunch of pictures of me... as my family. The idea came about from a project where I photographed myself as my brother. I thought it'd be fun to do everyone. The idea expanded and each image you whoever I am as the world sees them on the left and then them as I see them on the right. Enjoy. :)

Just a little backstory.. My dad's parents are divorced, so I have three grandpas. :)
1. Grandpa Jiron. My dad's dad. He smokes a lot and he loves to talk about himself. He is macho and thinks men are better than women.
2. Ed. My dad's mom's husband. He too thinks he is the best. I personally think he is one of the most boring people I have met.
3. Grandpa Adair. My mom's dad. He is the kindest person you'll ever meet. He loves telling stories!
4. Mom. My mom always tells me what to do and if I don't do it her way it is wrong and she'll never get over it. She has had to endure a lot of stuff because of my big sister, so she has become meaner over the years..
5. Dad. He is just tired. After my sister moved back in things started to fall apart and it caused so much tension in the house it was just too tiring. Now it is hard for him to do anything because of how mentally and physically tired out. He also just had hernia surgery and is still recovering from that.
6. Me. I try to put on a happy go lucky facade, but really I am so awkward and I always feel like I'm not going to please those around and I constantly worry about it.
7. Vincent. This is my wonderful fiancee. He is pretty much just him. He thinks you shouldn't hide who you are. He is my superman. And I'm not just poking fun at the shirts he wears. He saved me and continues to do so. Including me freaking out about finals..
8. Loura. It's a very long story, but she is essentially the one to blame.. I love my sister.. sometimes, but she is the reason I moved out, the reason for my other sister's anxiety etc..
9. Virginia. She is all playful on the outside but she really has some insane anxiety over Loura's kids and the situation Connor (Loura's 3 yr old) is in.
10. Jesse. To end on a fun note.. kinda. My brother has no worries in the world. He just goes on doing nothing but work and play video games. He is hidden not only because I never see him even when I'm at my parents, but an inside joke from our childhood.

B&W Portraits

I am Avril Lavigne if you can't tell... I realized after that I should have straightened my hair but eh. I procrastinated with my self as not self because I did not want to walk around in weird makeup or anything. After doing the pictures I was mad at myself for not doing them way earlier.
The second picture is of my fiancee Vincent. Many of my shots with him ended up blury. Grrrrrrr but I got some good ones. This one I had just told him to take off his glasses and he was rubbing his eyes because the light was "too bright." I made him stop moving and took a picture! I knew this was my shot as soon as I took it but still took more photos. After going through them all this one is still my fav!
I have learned that converting pictures into black and white is NOT a fun thing for me. I had a hard time getting what I wanted because once vibrant colors were now all grey and did not look good anymore. I tried to keep in mind when I was shooting that they would be in black and white later, but did not realize how much work actually went into making them the way I like or at least close to it.

Portraits!

The picture of me is as my little brother, Jesse. Since he graduated last year when I come over I always think he is gone. No, he's home. He's just doing exactly as I am in that picture. Playing Call of Duty (I wasn't actually playing but I was in the game to get the light.)
The second is of my little sister, Virginia. I chose her because she looks so different from the rest of us. All of us are pale, but she also has a very different face, I tease her that she has no eyebrows, and she has light hair. Also, she has not hit the makeup yet. Still "innocent." During this particular shoot my light was dropped and I think it caused a short in the cord (yay...not) so we went and found a lantern that doubles as a flashlight and you can change how big the circle of light is. This was THE VERY LAST picture I took. While taking the pictures I thought "eh" but I looked back at them the next day and since I was going backward I saw this one first. I LOVE this picture. Because of how bright and defined the line is you may not, but that's exactly what I love about it. Also, it creates cool shadows which I also love.
I did not get someone I did not know because it fell through. I was supposed to photograph my fiancee's older brother's boyfriend whom I have seen but never spoken to. They are working on their house and canceled last minute.

Assignment #2 - Numbers

G-I-N-N-Y. 5.
4 eyes + 2 eyes + 2 eyes = 8.
There are 10 tree trunks. I promise. The one is just hiding.
Can you see the 11?
Do the math. 24.
This candy bar has a total of 27 carbs.
There are 2 intersections and a $5, $2, and $1 in the case. 28.

I have not finished photographing because I am too shaky! Grrr here is a picture that was awesome until I shot it. I really really like this one, I just suck. lol

If you can't tell, the number is 25. The 2 reflected on the tape and created a 5. Good idea, bad execution..

Assignment #1 - Scavenger Hunt

My daddy! I had been taking pictures outside and then when I came inside this picture turned out orange! Ahhh! I was sure there was a way I could fix this in Lightroom.
I fixed it! I used the temperature slider. (Were we allowed to do that?? Oh well, I did. ;p) I really like the shadows in the chair. I wish we had curtains already so that I could've arranged them so the light was more focused on his face.

Ugly Ugly. I took the temperature slider and went the different direction and made it worse. I really dislike this part of the assignment because I hate looking at gross things.

This is my favorite picture I took. I was actually trying to get a picture of some goldfish behind those stones, but I hit my tripod (clumsy me!) and it shifted down to this beautiful angel.

I added more darkness to this one and used the radial filter to light up the angel a little bit. (Again I wasn't sure if we could, but I liked it too much after messing around.) When I added a little bit more darkness I got more texture in the stone and I went back and forth about liking it or not and finally decided that I did because of the balance with the texture of the plant.

This one I just slid the sliders to the most extreme. Very dark shadows, and Very bright highlights. I ALMOST like the shade of the pot, but that's all I like about it.

When I was searching for something red I realized that a lot of the tool and random junk in my boyfriend's garage had red on them. I honestly didn't put much into this picture. I went "snap" and moved on to other red things. Coming back to it I really liked it. I wished I would've maybe brushed some dust off or something. Personally I think it looks like a face.. But that could be just me!

I didn't do too much to this picture. I added some black but as I went to more extremes I didn't like it. I like how much the red stands out. It's not extreme and I like that.

Green brings out the red right?
